Title: Assistant Editor

Assistant Editor needed to join our team that produces leading magazines, websites and related media products in the motorcycle and powersports industries. The ideal candidate would be highly organized, detail oriented and an absolute star when it comes to copy editing/proofreading. An understanding of or appreciation for powersports is a plus but is not required. This full-time position at EPG Media & Specialty Information, in Plymouth, Minnesota, is a great opportunity for a recent J-school grad or somebody else looking to break into the media market in a fun, fast-paced and trusting environment. 

Major tasks include: 

  • Proofread, copy edit and fact check content for magazines, websites, enewsletters and other media
  • Plan, schedule and upload content on websites and social media channels
  • Coordinate with editorial and art department teams to meet deadlines and keep publications on schedule
  • Write captions, pull quotes and headlines as needed
  • Contribute market-specific content as directed by editors in chief 
  • Compile monthly editorial indices for magazines
  • Participate in staff meetings and editorial planning
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Skills required:

  • Strong writing, editing, grammar/punctuation/spelling, proofreading, research and communication skills
  • Ability to work with WordPress-based websites to upload content
  • Understanding of successful SEO and social media processes to build audiences
  • Proficiency using contemporary software/apps for desktop publishing, photo editing, file sharing, etc.
  • Time and situational management skills while handling multiple tasks

Requirements

  • Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience

Title: Content and Marketing Associate

Looking to wear many hats and represent many brands? Do you love a challenge? Are you creative, detail-oriented, and good at solving problems? Are you experienced at creating written and visual content for multiple platforms, including print, web, and social? This is a great entry level 18 month training position where you will learn everything about marketing and learn to be the voice for several Business to Business (B2B) brands. The 18th month training program will focus on:

  • Building marketing campaigns through copy creation, editing to execution
  • Creating engaging, informative and audience-specific content, emails, external website content, presentations, videos, brochures and collateral, and other digital marketing and communications channels
  • Identifying and proposing fresh story ideas and approaches to storytelling as part of the content planning process with the Marketing team
  • Support in-person and virtual events team with marketing support that may include; website messaging, attendee messaging, and sponsor messaging.
  • Editing and proofreading copy to ensure it is accurate, consistent, grammatically correct and that the message speaks to the target audience in a cohesive brand voice throughout multiple channels
  • Supporting other departments through collaboration on story ideas, copyediting, and proofreading
  • Monitoring and measure communications results and continually improve effectiveness to drive business outcomes

Skills Needed:

  • Recent Bachelor’s degree in Communications,  Marketing, or a related field
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills with extreme attention to detail and passionate about correct spelling, spacing, and punctuation
  • Approaches content with an eye for opportunities beyond the written word — experience creating infographics, video scripts, podcasts, social media, and visual storytelling in general.
  • Proven ability to create key relationships within an organization and a journalist’s mentality and drive to seek out compelling stories and content

The Research Division of the EPG Specialty Information is the leader in the collection, reporting, forecasting and analysis of volumetric consumption and sales trends for the Distilled Spirits, Wine and Beer categories.  In addition, we are a publishing and information services business with B2B and consumer properties in Power Sports/Recreation, Horticulture, and Fuel. 

Position Description

We are seeking a Research Intern to join our data research team.  The qualified candidate will assist in secondary research collection, analytics and process improvement to help us expand our data and information services business. Our department produces quality reporting for a variety of industries and seeks an intern who can participate in various stages of market research.  This is a paid position; approximately 20 hours per week as needed.

Interested interns should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of quantitative market research.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection and compilation of research data from multiple sources.
  • Perform a variety of data cleansing routines.
  • Conduct internet supplier and brand research.
  • Assist with the entry of product orders.
  • Perform analysis of marketing and sales data.
  • Update information in product database.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate student  who is majoring in Marketing, Research, Mathematics or related fields.
  • Individual should enjoy data and research.
  • MS-Excel experience is required.

Title: Motorcycle Content Creator/Editor

Do you want to get paid to do so?

EPG Media & Specialty Information is hiring a full-time, remote (within Southern California; see below) content creator/editor to work for its two consumer motorcycle publications: Rider, a street-focused, all-brand motorcycle magazine that specializes in travel and adventure, and Thunder Press, a street-focused American V-twin magazine. Both magazines publish 12 monthly issues and produce content for websites, buyers guides, social media platforms, videos and podcasts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Researching, writing, and revising original features, road tests, travel stories, product reviews, news items, etc.
  • Representing magazines at press launches, industry events, shows, etc. (approx. 25% travel required)
  • Testing motorcycles, including riding, research, modeling for photo/video shoots, having test bikes dyno tested, measuring fuel consumption and wet weight, etc.
  • Testing motorcycle apparel, products, parts, and accessories, including research, writing, installation, evaluation, photography, and video
  • Speaking on-camera in motorcycle and product test videos
  • Obtaining, selecting, and editing photos and videos
  • Coordinating with editors-in-chief, managing editor, and art director to meet deadlines and keep publications on schedule
  • Copy editing, proofreading, and fact checking
  • Planning, scheduling, and uploading content on websites and social media channels
  • Developing feature and story ideas
  • Assisting with editorial planning

This is a fast-paced, demanding job. You will be an integral, essential member of our editorial team, so you will wear many hats and get a wide range of experience. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, “all in” candidate who wants a challenge, doesn’t give up easily, and holds themself to a high standard. Other requirements:

  • High level of motorcycle riding ability (5+ years of experience; street riding experience, a clean driving record, and a motorcycle endorsement on your driver’s license required)
  • Understanding of the mechanical operation and requirements of modern street-legal motorcycles (mechanical or technical training or experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge of and interest in motorcycle technology and trends
  • Proficiency using contemporary software/apps for desktop publishing, photo editing, content management, social media, file sharing, etc.
  • Strong writing, editing, grammar/punctuation/spelling, proofreading, research, and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Previous publishing experience preferred
  • Experience managing websites and social media channels preferred
  • Photography and videography skills/experience preferred

Because the editors-in-chief for Rider and Thunder Press are based in Southern California (one in Orange County, the other in Ventura County), and because test bikes, equipment, photographers, etc. are based in the same area, even though this is a remote position you must live in Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara or Ventura counties.
